The Chainsmokers is the name of a duo band that focuses on a huge range of different music genres that appeal to the younger generations. The band is known for their upbeat song; Closer (featuring Halsey) and Something Like This with Coldplay. This duo touches different genres to reach a wide audience and they are fearless when it comes to trying new things. As their popularity grew, the pressure was on, especially in one of the most recent articles written on Forbes. An interview between one of the duos with Hugh McIntyre talks about The Chainsmokers’ newest album titled, ‘Sick Boy’. A singles album.
It appeared to be that the duo had a huge break between new music albums and after a while, they finally came back with something new for their audience. ‘Sick Boy’ happened to be a way of saying that, as Drew Taggart had said, that it was a way of starting anew. As in new territory, a new theme to keep listeners on their toes and wanting more. But the new single happened to come off as darker than their other works. Drew explains it quite well that it took plenty of negative emotions and passion to get to where they are today. It took a great amount of work and strength to reach that end of the tunnel, as it were. No doubt, that work had paid off. (See: Chainsmokers on Beatport: The Chainsmokers)
